“Ribbon of Hope” - Perkins Art
On December 1st, World AIDS Day, IncredibleArtist.Com and the Desert AIDS Project unveiled a red ribbon sculpture to adorn the DAP's main entrance. This 40"-tall commemorative artwork is the creation of IncredibleArtist.com assemblage artists Linda & Charles Perkins, who specialize in creating beautiful sculptures from wire, found objects, colorful broken glass, and other recycled materials.
The sculpture was commissioned from IncredibleArtist.Com by the Desert AIDS Project with generous funding from the Palm Springs City Council.
Much of the red glass used in the sculpture was donated by people affected by AIDS: A mother’s Tiffany lamp, a brother-in-law’s glass vase, a DAP staff member’s precious Baccarat crystal, and more. Donations have come from as far away as Michigan, making this heartfelt sculpture a meaningful community project.
IncredibleArtist.Com and the Perkins are producing a very limited edition of 125 smaller ribbons for sale, with 25% of the proceeds donated to the Desert AIDS Project. Each ribbon is approximately 13" tall and 10" wide, sculpted with solid copper wire and donated shards of red glass. 25% of the sale of each ribbon will be donated to the Desert AIDS Project.
Each ribbon is one-of-a-kind, hand-made, and signed in wire. Delivery time approximately 3-6 weeks.
